About Waterloo Lions Club
The Waterloo Lions Club was charted on February 20, 1939. Since then, the club has been active within the community as well as in the District and State. The Waterloo Lions Club has in its history sponsored three new clubs, two of which are still active. Events and activities highlight the club’s yearly calendar. Members participate in serving a community meal every fifth Tuesday of the month with Queen of Peace Church. Donation boxes throughout the Waterloo area receive approximately 3,000 used eyeglasses and 20 hearing aids each year that are repurposed.
A plaque is awarded annually by the club to the top 4-H’er in Black Hawk County. Money from our fundraisers is used to further the Lions causes of Vision, Hunger, Environment, Diabetes, and Childhood Cancer. Approximately $1,500 dollars each year goes to assisting local residents in need of eyeglasses and/or hearing aids. Since 2009, the Waterloo Lions Club has donated in excess of $25,000 to local organizations, the Iowa Lions Foundation and the Lions Clubs International Foundation. The club continuously looks to add new members with a passion to serve their community and lead our club forward in new areas.

To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
To unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.

Lions Code of Ethics
To show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to that end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service;
To seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part;
To remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another; to be loyal to my clients or customers; and to be true to myself;
Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards my fellow men, to resolve such doubt against myself;
To hold friendships as an end and not as a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it was given;
Always bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, and my state, and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means;
To aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak and my substance to the needy;
To be careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise: to build up and not destroy.
